Hemgaard is the first credentialed home safety check-up for aging in place in Turkey. We assess the home — and the life lived inside it — then hand you a clear, prioritized plan, reviewed by a specialist panel. We call it the home check-up.
Our methodology is derived from structured safety check-up practice developed with the Nordic Child Playground Institute (for children's playgrounds). The discipline transfers directly: assess the environment for risk, bring specialist judgment, and convert findings into action.
Most homes were never designed for aging bodies. We point out what will increase the level of comfort and safety.
Bathroom tiles with too little friction. A light switch across a dark room. A threshold that becomes a trip hazard at 2 a.m. Shelves out of reach. These risks are quiet — until they aren't.
The check-up is the heart of what we do. Our specialist team assesses every room and every transition the resident uses daily, then go further: we sit with the resident and their family to understand how they actually live — what they cook, how they move at night, who visits, what they love and want to keep doing. That depth is the point.

We meet online for a dedicated 60-minute session to review the report with you — the findings, and what to do first.
One clear, comparable picture of the home — and a plan you can act on.
Every report is reviewed by our specialist panel before it reaches you.
Our team includes a Certified Senior Home Safety Specialist® (SHSS), certified by Age Safe® America.
Our team includes a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), certified by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).The check-up stands on its own. When you want the work done, we can manage all of it.

If you choose to act on the plan, we manage the whole retrofit through a vetted network of craftspeople — tiling, carpentry, bathroom conversion, lighting. You have one point of contact from first visit to final walk-through. The homes we work on don't look adapted or clinical. They look designed.

We recommend smart home devices and, if you wish, install them — fall detection, an emergency button, a video doorbell with in-home screen, automated lighting.
The Hemgaard team.

The things families ask us first.
Hemgaard is a home safety check-up team for aging in place. Our core product is the check-up: a specialist assessment of a private home — and the life lived in it — reviewed by a specialist panel. For families who want the retrofit or smart-home installations done, we also manage it end to end.
Most often, adult children who want this check-up to keep a parent safe, independent, and at home — without waiting for a fall to force a decision. It's equally for older adults who want to assess and adapt their own home in advance.
First, we hold a short pre-consultation to understand the need; once we've decided together that the check-up is the right step, the home visit is scheduled. On the agreed day and time, our dedicated team of two experts visits the home. After a brief orientation, they hold a comprehensive Q&A interview with the resident and survey and scan the home room by room (60 min). After the visit, follow-up interviews with family and any caretakers can be held online (30 min). Our specialist panel — geriatrician, physiotherapist, architect — reviews the findings and assesses both the current picture and what's likely to be needed in the near term. All interviews are confidential and interview notes are not shared.
The visit is efficient; the rigor is in what follows. On site we spend about 60 minutes on the interview, survey, and scan. Where needed, after the visit we conduct roughly 30 minutes of follow-up interviews online with family and caretakers.
We then build the artifacts, review them with our design team and specialist panel, and deliver your Age-in-place Comfort Report within 7 days of the visit. Finally, we schedule a 60-minute session to walk you through the findings.
A proprietary Age-in-place Comfort Score (0–100) built from observations across 5 assessed dimensions, room-by-room findings, and a phased intervention plan proposal sorted by urgency.
Depth. A tool that takes a few uploaded photos or a walkthrough video sees surfaces. We assess the home, the resident's life, and how they actually move through the space — captured through on-site observation, a structured interview protocol, and a co-signing panel. Every home we assess refines our method; a commodity photo tool has nothing that compounds.
Yes — this is a private home, and we treat it that way. Any photos, images, or video of the home are strictly confidential and used solely to produce and deliver your report. We do not share, sell, or publish them, and access is limited to the people working on your project and the family members you authorize.
Check-up interview recordings and internal notes stay internal and are never posted to your portal.
If you want us to. The check-up is complete on its own — you own the report and its plan whether or not you build anything through us. When you do choose to act, we manage the entire retrofit through a vetted craftsperson network, with a single point of contact and a final quality walk-through on every job.
We recommend and install smart home devices — fall detection, an emergency button, a video doorbell with in-home screen, automated lighting — as a one-time part of the retrofit. We do not operate a monitoring service or sell a subscription. Once installed, the devices belong to the family, and any live monitoring runs through the device makers' own apps.
Istanbul, for now. On-site check-ups in other cities can be arranged when travel is covered. Expansion to Ankara and Copenhagen will follow.
Message us on WhatsApp at 0 535 875 11 70. We'll talk through your situation and the home's likely profile, and schedule the check-up. First available slots in Istanbul are typically two to three weeks out.
Tell us a little about the home and the person who lives in it. We'll take it from there — and you'll have a clear, signed plan within a week.

In partnership with SUPERPOOL.
SUPERPOOL is a research-based architectural practice with offices in Istanbul and Copenhagen. For over a decade its partners have designed public space, cultural institutions, and housing across Turkey and Scandinavia — starting from how people actually live in a space, not how it photographs. That sensibility sets the design standard for every Hemgaard retrofit. Our check-up methodology itself is derived from structured safety check-up practice developed with the Nordic Child Playground Institute.

Aging at home shouldn't be the compromise. It should be the plan.
